This elegant boutique hotel is enchanting in its decor and flooded with natural light. Its well-appointed, ensuite rooms each have a private balcony overlooking the iconic silhouette of the Ngong Hills. Guests are treated to the services of a discreet, highly trained butler whose role is to ensure a hassle-free stay. Tuck into delicious European-inspired fare at the Brasserie and enjoy refreshing beverages at the convivial bar. Days 2-4: Transfer Maasai Mara Game Reserve

Enjoy breakfast and a briefing at Hemingways before you transfer to Wilson Airport for your flight to the Maasai Mara. After a short flight to the Maasai Mara, transfer to Mara Plains camp situated in a glade of trees and in the heart of predator country. Custom-designed tents of flowing canvas and canopied ceilings, ensuite flush loo, bucket showers – what we like to call ‘glamping’. Enjoy your first-afternoon game drive and sundowners to toast the African sun. Spend your days out exploring the 70,000 acre private Mara North Conservancy, shared with just a handful of other small camps or go into the famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve to catch the river crossings during the great Migration season.

The enchanting Mara Plains Camp is situated on a bend of the Ntiakitiak River in a secluded private conservancy on the border of the Masai Mara National Reserve. Access to this elegant and secluded camp is via a wooden footbridge over a river, underlining its sense of seclusion and intimacy. Elegant yet understated, seven guest tents pay homage to the rich heritage of Africa, from chunky wooden doors from the Swahili enclave of Lamu to the deep red and purple shades that honour the spirit of the Maasai, while rich leather, copper and brass harks back to the colonial explorers.

Days 5-7: Chyulu Hills

Stay: Ol Donyo Lodge

Fly to Amboseli via Nairobi and upon arrival you will be transferred to Ol Donyo Lodge for the next 3 nights. Located in the Chyulu Hills between Tsavo and Amboseli, the camp has all the wildlife action with the bonus of the impressive Mount Kilimanjaro as a backdrop. The lodge has 10 suites, all with inspiring views across the expansive plains, plus world-class service and food. The captivating ol Donyo Lodge is tucked away in the cool shadow of the Chyulu Hills neighbouring Amboseli, one of Kenya’s most prized safari destinations. The lodge boasts spacious guest suites, no two of which are the same. Each features their own exclusive plunge pool, as well as a rooftop terrace where an elegant star bed can be set up to sleep beneath the glittering night sky.

Guests can dine on tantalising meals, accompanied by an extensive wine list, and served in the elegant dining area. After a rewarding morning of wildlife viewing, guests can choose to cool off in the inviting infinity pool or indulge in a relaxing massage. Flexibility is key at ol Donyo and guests are encouraged to curate their own time, well suited to their interests, while on safari. Activities include game drives (and night drives), guided bush walks, exhilarating horseback safaris (for intermediate to experienced riders), Maasai village visits, day trips to the Amboseli National Park (at an extra cost) and mountain biking. ol Donyo’s famous underground hide is a true highlight, allowing guests to witness super tusker elephants drinking at a nearby waterhole, amongst many other bird and wildlife interactions, with Mt Kilimanjaro as the backdrop.
